Hi there!

I haven't posted here since a while.
This piece has been featured in the Expose 3 book and the 2d artist magazine (Nov 06). I thought I'd like to share some insights of this image ...

First of all, I had lots of fun with this picture.
Since I didn't used references it turned out to be quite a challenge. At the beginning I just had something like a ice scape in my had with a certain palette and lighting setup that I wanted to follow.

I painted it entirely in Photoshop CS2. Except the base of the village, which was modelled and rendered in Cinema 4D 9.

great work but you should make the image less evenly detailed. That way you'd get a much better flow around your painting.

Warning: I didn't see any village until I saw what you wrote in the description box. Perhaps some enhancement in that area may lead the eye to get the real proportions of the lanscape.
At first I thought this is an average North Pole lanscape with some kind of small pool at the front.
